Mike Clayman MD and Neil Bodick MD, PhD founded and led Chorus, a division within Lilly Research Laboratories that advanced a large number of Lilly assets from candidate selection to clinical Proof of Concept, substantially increasing the net present value of Lilly's portfolio.
Mike and Neil ran Chorus for five years. In maintaining a small, autonomous organization of experienced drug developers and designing incisive experiments, they achieved unprecedented efficiency in early-phase development — documenting an order of magnitude increase in productivity.
Chorus effectively became a start-up within a large pharmaceutical company with 22 people managing a portfolio of ten New Molecular Entities, advancing both small and large molecules across six different therapeutic areas. Chorus both validated new mechanisms of action in the clinic and provided proof of differentiation from competitors in the market.
In addition to bringing unique competencies in early-phase development to Flexion, Mike and Neil have extensive experience in late-phase development, including oversight of global submission and approval for seven New Molecular Entities. Flexion was created to leverage this unique early-phase competence and extensive late-phase experience in the optimization of portfolio value for partnering pharmaceutical firms.
